The MobiLearn English-German Phrasebook and Add-on Modules include several hours’ worth of high-quality audio, and thus require more storage memory than the average Pocket PC program—about 15 MB for the core Phrasebook and 7-12 MB for each of the Add-ons.  For greatest efficiency and highest performance, we recommend that you install these programs on a CF or SD storage card.

Suppose you're going shopping in Munich and want to be able to ask whether a merchant takes credit cards.  On the Home screen, tap the menu bar to select EngGer (English to German).  In three quick taps, you can find the right German expression:

1. On the Home screen, tap the Out & About icon.

2. In the Out & About list, tap the Shopping category.

3. Scroll through the Shopping phrase list and tap "Can I pay with a credit card?"

You'll see the German equivalent, "Nehmen Sie Kreditkarten?," in the gold translation window.  To hear it out loud, tap the translation window.  Then when you're ready to make a purchase, just repeat the phrase to express yourself in natural German.  To reverse the process and go from German to English, just select GerEng on the Home screen menu bar.

Add-on Modules

You can enhance the content of the Phrasebook with five add-on modules that seamlessly expand the language base:

500 Nouns adds a basic vocabulary to the Phrasebook.  These nouns are the names of people, places, and things most essential to everyday conversation. When this add-on module is installed on a Pocket PC that contains the required Talking Phrasebook, 500 Nouns becomes a new subcategory under the Conversation category. This add-on includes the names for colors, family members, items of cuisine, and other basic terminology.

500 More Nouns adds a more advanced vocabulary.  When installed, 500 More Nouns becomes a new subcategory under the Conversation category. This add-on includes the names for outdoor activities, cultural pursuits, computer equipment, and other intermediate-level terms.

Cuisine adds over 190 special culinary expressions.  When installed, Cuisine becomes a new subcategory under the Out & About category.  Note: for elementary terms related to cuisine, purchase the 500 Nouns add-on, which contains vocabulary fundamentals including 162 culinary items. The Cuisine add-on module described here extends the vocabulary with more specialized expressions.

Dating adds over 160 special social expressions and vocabulary terms.  When installed, Dating becomes a new subcategory under the Conversation category.  This module contains some essential adult language that parents may consider unsuitable for children.  Note: for elementary terms related to dating and socializing, first purchase the 500 Nouns and 500 More Nouns add-ons, which contain vocabulary fundamentals. The Dating add-on module described here extends the vocabulary with more specialized terms.

Driving adds over 190 special phrases and vocabulary terms.  When installed, Driving becomes a new subcategory under Transportation.  Note: for elementary terms related to driving, first purchase MobiLearn's 500 Nouns and 500 More Nouns add-ons, which contain vocabulary fundamentals.
