MobiLearn Talking English-Spanish Health Care Phrases from Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary is a simple, powerful communication tool that gives a voice to the health care dialogue contained in Appendix 11 of Taber's Dictionary. In a flash, you can choose an English phrase, see its Spanish translation, and hear the Spanish spoken out loud through your Pocket PC speaker or earphone. The audio is presented in a pure native voice recorded with high fidelity. Just echo what you hear to express yourself with confidence, even if you haven't spoken Spanish before. You can also reverse the direction of translation to select Spanish phrases and see their English equivalents. (There is no English audio in this case.)

This phrasebook contains nearly 500 expressions to help English-speaking health care professionals communicate with members of the Spanish-speaking community. The phrases are grouped by categories so you can quickly locate the expression you're looking for. Just tap the appropriate category to find a list of English phrases pertaining to the topic you want to discuss. Tap again to choose the desired phrase. You'll see its Spanish equivalent in the gold translation window. Then tap the gold window to hear the Spanish expression spoken out loud.

How It Works

 

Suppose you're trying to help a Spanish-speaking person with an undetermined ailment, and want to ask about his or her past illnesses. In three quick taps, you can find the right Spanish expression:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the History icon.

  2. In the History list, tap the Diseases category.

  3. Scroll through the Diseases phrase list and tap "What diseases have you had?"

You'll see the Spanish equivalent, "¿Qué enfermedades ha tenido?," in the gold translation window. To hear it out loud, tap the translation window. Then just repeat the phrase to express yourself in natural Spanish. You can continue by pronouncing (or playing aloud) the Spanish terms for a variety of diseases. You can also switch the direction of translation and go from Spanish to English. In this mode you can select an item from a list of Spanish phrases to see its English translation. You can also search for all Spanish phrases containing the particular words or parts of words you specify.
